You’ll find nothing else like us, anywhere.

The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS), welcoming its first freshman class in fall 2026, is Alabama’s innovative residential high school dedicated to building the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Located in Demopolis, ASHS offers a first-of-its-kind, hands-on curriculum designed to inspire and educate young Alabamians for in-demand, high-impact roles in healthcare with a focus on critical needs in rural areas. Students from all 67 counties are encouraged to apply.

Strategic partnerships have been forged with more than 30 rural hospitals and statewide health institutions to provide 12th-grade internships and direct career pathways after graduation, guiding students into waiting jobs for nurses, technicians and in informatics and robotics.

ASHS students will benefit from hands-on clinical training, shadowing experiences with medical professionals, and opportunities for certifications that will make graduates stand out in their search for jobs or pursuit of additional training or higher education.

Through a community-focused, STEMM-centered approach, ASHS will empower graduates to make immediate, positive contributions in both their communities and across Alabama and to build a foundation for a meaningful life.

Living on a campus designed specifically to meet the unique needs of this school will allow students to fully dedicate themselves to their education and training with like-minded peers and a focused, nurturing staff and faculty. Set in the welcoming community of Demopolis, the campus provides and ideal environment for students to experience the impact and rewards of healthcare in a rural setting.
