Ready to Learn, Lead, and Serve?
The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences is designed for students who want to make a difference. Our students will come from all across Alabama, especially from communities where opportunity can sometimes feel out of reach, and they’ll bring with them a passion for learning, leadership, and service.
Admissions at ASHS is not just about test scores. It’s about identifying students with potential, drive, and the desire to pursue a future in healthcare. We’re looking for young people who show promise in science and math, who value compassion and teamwork, and who are eager to grow in a challenging and supportive environment. Families should also be ready to partner with us, knowing that student success is a shared goal.
Who Should Apply
ASHS is seeking students who:
- Demonstrate interest in healthcare through clubs, volunteer work, or personal experience
- Show academic readiness, especially in STEMM coursework
- Come from or have a compassion for underrepresented communities in Alabama
- Display leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to service
- Are emotionally mature and ready for the experience of living away from home
We encourage students who are active in their communities – through school clubs, church, volunteer work, or healthcare-related organizations like HOSA – to consider how their experiences have prepared them for this next step.
What the Process Looks Like
Enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year will begin in Fall 2025 and close in early Spring 2026. The application will include:
- A completed online application
- 7th grade report card
- Letters of Recommendation from Administrator, Counselor, Science Teacher
- Discipline and Attendance Records
- An interview, scheduled after the application is reviewed
Interviews will begin in early 2026 and are a chance for both students and families to ask questions and learn more about what life and learning will look like at ASHS.
Getting Ready Now
While applications won’t open until next fall, students can begin preparing by getting involved in science and healthcare-related activities. Joining clubs, volunteering, and taking initiative in academics all help build a strong foundation.
ASHS is more than a school – it’s a launchpad. We’re building something new for Alabama, and we’re looking for students ready to rise to that challenge.
